Whilst much of the rest of the country has had snow over the past week or two, Hereford has got away with just a small smattering of the white stuff until, we hope, today!!

The forecast
here is snow is due big time today....we'll see!!!

Found a 'where's it going to snow' website here too!!

Just spent Christmas with immediate family and others too (Sarah's Mum, my Auntie and Uncle and kids etc) at a large house in Walmer, near Dover. A stones throw from the beach!

Good time with great food and lots to do - or not in my case - had a lovely chill out.

Some pics coming soon but the pic on left is of the current (immediate) Hider clan.

What a stonker of a night!! Having got the kids booked in for 'an overnighter' with some friends last night, Sarah and I bombed off to Brum for a nice meal in China Town and then onto the big surprise (even though she weedled it out of me beforehand!) for Sarah: Jools Holland and his Rhythm and Blues Orchestra at the NIA. What a cracking show!

Both of us are big Jools fans.Over past years Jools Holland has performed to a staggering 4 million people.

This show had special guest star Dave Edmunds (he of 'I hear you knocking' and other tracks which you can check out here) and guest vocalists Ruby Turner and Louise Marshall.

A great night!!

If you have forgotten how great the master is, remind yourself here or below:

One of the things that fascinates me more than most TV/web stuff is improv. stuff. One of the best ones I saw recently was the wedding party (see here).

I came across Improve Everywhere on Youtube today. They are great. Turn up at all sorts of places and just start to perform in the middle of a crowd!

Have a look at what they do here or see below

Good eh? But still not as good as the T Mobile adverts at the train stations that were on the TV some time back. Remember them? See below and there's more here

No, it's not what you think....I've just come to the conclusion I love the web!!! It's just flippin' amazing!! Let me explain....

I gaffed last week. My main PC was as slow as a horse so I decided to wipe it and start again. Always careful about this I backed up and again but, in the process, for some bizarre reason, I backed everything up except for the reams of MP3's I have on the PC. No idea why it copied everything bar those??

I then wiped the PC to find out, when I got round to putting stuff back, that all the MP3's were gone!! Arghhhhh!! I was stumped as to what to do and racked my brains. Even my back up plan (I am a Hider after all!) failed this time. Never before - or again!

I had all my MP3 tracks on my Ipod and, stupidly thought I'd plug it into I tunes and all the tracks would be sucked back to the PC until I remembered I'm dealing with Apple and Itunes who don't let you do anything without their control (hence the reason I now don't but from them but from Amazon as they are DRM free).

So, (and it's now long story short time I know!) I wacked the text 'get Ipod content back to PC' into Google and, as usual, Google comes up with site fulls of solutions.....

I went to a forum site (here) where it told me about a freeby bit of kit called 'sharepod'. I followed the simple instructions and BOOM! it's all back on the PC. Unreal. No cost and beat the Apple tight wads!!!

If you ever do the same...you know where to come....

I now find that in 99% of cases where I need to know something or need a solution - the web has it! Fantastic!!

My son Josh (age 7) had been told by someone at school today that he had to show me a video that was on You Tube called 'scary driving'.

He gave me no more information than that. I searched (with him by my side) and found the following:

    About the blogger:

    Picture
Dave started blogging when, as a family, we went to live in India for 3.5 months in '08. You'll find out all about that story by going to our old blog here.

Dave overdid it a bit on the old blog in India with posts going up most days, so since returning to the UK, he has taken a bit of a break but feels now it's time to blog again! (July '09).

Blogging is a weird thing and a bit voyeristic at times (!) so why do it? Surely life blogging in the UK will never be as exciting for people as it was in India?

Well, the main reason for beginning to blog again is that we are pretty naff at the normal kind of communication! We have a number of good friends that do not live in the UK too and this is just one way we feel we can touch base with them. Feedback is that they are happy (ish) with that too!

The final good reason for starting again is that the one person who has hassled me back to blogging is my older brother in China who runs a great blog about his bizzare life in China which you can view here.

I guess if I am honest it's him I have in my mind when I blog so, for his sake (as I know he will read it!), if for no one elses...here goes....

    Dave ;-)

    Life mantra:

    Picture

"I will give you a talisman. Whenever you are in doubt, or when the self becomes too much with you, apply the following test. Recall the face of the poorest and the weakest man [woman] whom you may have seen, and ask yourself, if the step you contemplate is going to be of any use to him [her]. Will he [she] gain anything by it? Will it restore him [her] to a control over his [her] own life and destiny? In other words, will it lead to swaraj [freedom] for the hungry and spiritually starving millions?

Then you will find your doubts and your self melt away."

One of the last notes left behind by Gandhi in 1948, expressing his deepest social thought.
