Update on move: 26/03/2010
![]() I've been amazed at the amount of people who have been interested in what we are doing on this house move lark. Really surprised! Lst count on blog (unique hits was between 20 and 50!!) Everyone I seem to talk to knows something so I thought I better update you on the developments on house and move etc. We've felt very suppoprted through this time... You'll see from the post below that we had an amazing result with the sale of our house. That was incredible enough but what's finally ended up happening is the icing on the cake! Sarah has been amazing on the house move business by taking on pretty much everything so far. She has been to se so many house (sometimes 2 a day etc) but wasn't finsing much out there suited our needs and bank balance! She found a nice house on a place called 'Saxon Gate' (the old SAS site of all places) and, after a little while we put an offer in under the asking price. The bloke came back saying he wasn't interested in negotiating under the asking price so we left it there. We were getting a little fed up (impatient!!), not because we had been searching fo too long (2 weeks!!!) but the houses we were seeing were tat to be frank - even for a quarter of a million pounds!!! Then this week we got a call from a guy Sarah has got to know well at an estate agents to say 'there's one just going on the market, no details yet and no chain, do you want to have a look'? It sounded very similar to our situation (in the fact it had only gone on that day and not details). We trotted round on the afternoon and....well the rest is history as they say..... Despite telling everyone that we don't really 'fall in love with places' because 'we just choose one that will meet our needs' we walked through the door at this house and both of us were blown away! It's an amaxing 4 bed house, study, seperate diner, really nice lounge HUGE kitchen (with granite worktops etc), good size garden oak wood florring throughout ground floor etc etc The best bit about it is it's location. As you can see from the picture (that's the road of 24 houses in the middle of fields!!) it's 2 minutes off the main Rd that takes me out to the Midlands (for work) and 5 mins to town centre BUT look at where it really is - green everywhere!!!! Sarah and I's dream! We now need everything to move before end of May which is when we will move. This whole moving thing has been an amazing process and, I have to say, good for my faith. I find when things are going fine I pray less but when I can't control what we need I pray more - very sad I'm afraid but true. I know what I have quietly asked for in our future house and I have to be blunt, so far, it seems bang on. Ta to the big 'G' x Add Comment | About the blogger:
Dave started blogging when, as a family, we went to live in India for 3.5 months in '08. You'll find out all about that story by going to our old blog here.
Dave overdid it a bit on the old blog in India with posts going up most days, so since returning to the UK, he has taken a bit of a break but feels now it's time to blog again! (July '09). Blogging is a weird thing and a bit voyeristic at times (!) so why do it? Surely life blogging in the UK will never be as exciting for people as it was in India? Well, the main reason for beginning to blog again is that we are pretty naff at the normal kind of communication! We have a number of good friends that do not live in the UK too and this is just one way we feel we can touch base with them. Feedback is that they are happy (ish) with that too! The final good reason for starting again is that the one person who has hassled me back to blogging is my older brother in China who runs a great blog about his bizzare life in China which you can view here. I guess if I am honest it's him I have in my mind when I blog so, for his sake (as I know he will read it!), if for no one elses...here goes.... Dave ;-) Categories:All ArchivesJanuary 2012 Life mantra:
"I will give you a talisman. Whenever you are in doubt, or when the self becomes too much with you, apply the following test. Recall the face of the poorest and the weakest man [woman] whom you may have seen, and ask yourself, if the step you contemplate is going to be of any use to him [her]. Will he [she] gain anything by it? Will it restore him [her] to a control over his [her] own life and destiny? In other words, will it lead to swaraj [freedom] for the hungry and spiritually starving millions? Then you will find your doubts and your self melt away." One of the last notes left behind by Gandhi in 1948, expressing his deepest social thought. |
