Well at long last we are in. On the 7th May 2010 we moved into our new house. Sorry we have been offline for so long. added to the fact we were moving we were mucked around by our phone people which meant we couldn't get oinline til today! The house is stunning - a word I don't use lighlty. See just a sample of the pics. Sarah and have gone to bed every night so far feeling like we are in a hotel and will have to move out at some point!! The house move went so straighforward. The lady we were buying off brought her keys round the night before which was really kind and a way of saying 'I trust you'. Great start! Removals firm all good and we moved in without a hitch. The house is only 5 years old and the person we have bought off is in the army and so is away a lot and also lived on her own so the house is immaculate. We are just loving it hear. It's a dream house for us. More on the house in another post I am sure.... 2 Comments 'House'!: 10/03/2010
![]() The last 2 weeks have been a right old roller coaster! After much discussion over reecnt months we decided a couple of weeks ago that we should sell our house. We hope to be able to foster later this year or early next (don't want to go into deatils on the blog but you can e mail us if you want to know more) and need to have a spare room for the child coming to us. We've been really happy at our house here but see this as 'a means to an end. really. We mailed out some of our close friends to tell them of our hopes and asked them to pray. Little did we know what the next 2 weeks would bring..... Before we tell you the news, we best tell you a little secret! Between Sarah and I we had (jointly or together) prayed for the following: 1. A house we had seen and visited but as soon as we put an offer in another couple pipped us to the post. We loved this house but, as I e mail, it's gone! Sold sign is up! 2. A really simple sale of our house. We are not big stroppy business types (not out of work anyway!) and didn't want lots of haggling over prices of our house etc 3. To sell our house for a minimum of £xx (full asking price) as we needed £xx in to get £yy for the next house 4. For it to be quick - we really wanted the move to not be too drawn out 5. To sell to someone we liked - bit odd but there you go! Last week we had the estate agents round to look at the house. We had done a little work (painting etc) and felt it was ready to go on the market....pictures were taken etc......house de clutterred. Yesterday morning the house was ready to go on the market. Details barley on the web - only text no pics as they hadn't had chance to get them up. During the day (in fact a few hours after it had technically been released!) we got a call to say a guy wanted to see it at 5.30pm and...well cut a short story short.....it's sold!!! The estate agent has confirmed this this morning and here's the bizarre facts:
We now have a frantic few months looking for somewhere to move out to by June of this year!! | About the blogger:
Dave started blogging when, as a family, we went to live in India for 3.5 months in '08. You'll find out all about that story by going to our old blog here.
Dave overdid it a bit on the old blog in India with posts going up most days, so since returning to the UK, he has taken a bit of a break but feels now it's time to blog again! (July '09). Blogging is a weird thing and a bit voyeristic at times (!) so why do it? Surely life blogging in the UK will never be as exciting for people as it was in India? Well, the main reason for beginning to blog again is that we are pretty naff at the normal kind of communication! We have a number of good friends that do not live in the UK too and this is just one way we feel we can touch base with them. Feedback is that they are happy (ish) with that too! The final good reason for starting again is that the one person who has hassled me back to blogging is my older brother in China who runs a great blog about his bizzare life in China which you can view here. I guess if I am honest it's him I have in my mind when I blog so, for his sake (as I know he will read it!), if for no one elses...here goes.... Dave ;-) Categories:All ArchivesJanuary 2012 Life mantra:
"I will give you a talisman. Whenever you are in doubt, or when the self becomes too much with you, apply the following test. Recall the face of the poorest and the weakest man [woman] whom you may have seen, and ask yourself, if the step you contemplate is going to be of any use to him [her]. Will he [she] gain anything by it? Will it restore him [her] to a control over his [her] own life and destiny? In other words, will it lead to swaraj [freedom] for the hungry and spiritually starving millions? Then you will find your doubts and your self melt away." One of the last notes left behind by Gandhi in 1948, expressing his deepest social thought. |
